Hello, pretty desperate here, so really need some help.

I graduated from a BSN program in Texas abt 5 years ago, and took the Nclex a couple of times and failed. So I kinda gave up and never got my license. But now I want to get back in the nursing field.

I contacted Texas BON and was told to re-take a BSN program or something, is there anyone else in similar situations? and what did you do to proceed? I really don't want to go through another BSN program.

I heard you can take NcLEX in another state, but is it hard to transfer the license? cause ultimately I want to practice here in Texas.

No information to actually help you.. but if you failed the NCLEX several times post-BSN then how exactly do you plan to pass 5 years after the program and having had no clinical experience ?

If you happened to pass on the (5 year later) first attempt.. how do you plan to explain on your resume the 5 year college gap of no relevant experience? That is not marketable.

You can apply in another state that will allow you to test, and get licensed, but it will be up to the TX BON whether or not they will issue you a license when you apply for licensure by endorsement. They may be fine with it, but you might want to check with the BON about what their position would be on that.

I agree that a gap of this long between when you finished school and when you may get licensed in the future is really going to hurt you as a job candidate. Esp. in the current employment climate, you're going to have a v. difficult time competing with experienced RNs and recent new graduates. You may want to consider taking a refresher course once you're licensed.
