Yet another class-pairing question

Published

Hi All!

I officially registered today for the first of my pre-req classes - A&P1. (on Saturdays)

I'm planning to take another class this semester but I'm so lost on which one.

I haven't taken science classes in 6 years and I was really horrible in Bio in high school.

I heard that A&P1 is very difficult - Gah! But what would you recommend I take with it?

- Microbiology OR Nutrition? - I heard Nutrition was less difficult.

My question:

Should I take A&P1 with Nutrition, then take A&P2 with Micro? Would this be harder for me when I take A&P2?

OR suck it up and take A&P1 with Micro, then take A&P2 with Chem (which I also need to take) and push Nutrition to later? Is an A possible when taking A&P1 with Micro?

Thanks in advance!

If you haven't had any science is a long while, then I would recommend you take only one science course. I think it would be doable to take A&P I and nutrition together. However, I think it would be tough to take 2 major science (e.g. A&P I and micro) courses together, unless you are really great at science and have a lot of time to study.

I'm taking my last two pre-reqs this fall-- A&PII and micro. Based on my own experience, I (personally, anyway) would suggest taking nutrition with A&PI. You mentioned that this is your first semester of pre-reqs. A&P is hard, and requires as much time as you can imagine... and then some. I wouldn't personally pair it with something intense. Now, I had thought nutrition would be a walk in the park- but my instructor was a biochemist with her doctorate. While I anticipated a course that focused a lot on knowledge that we can pass along to our patients, she really got into the chemistry side of things. So be prepared for it to be harder than you might think, just in case.

You didn't mention any other pre-requisites-- do you have any gen Ed type classes you could take and just do A&p with those this semester, until you get into the swing of things??

I don't mean to make it all sound intimidating. Grades are important and you want to make sure you give yourself enough time to truly learn and do well, so that you can be an exceptional nurse later on.

Good luck to you!!!

Hi goingtothedogs and TWiersch!

Thanks for your help! I have A&P1/2, Micro, Chem and Nutrition to take - everything else is fulfilled by my previous BA degree.

Yeah, a friend also suggested I take A&P1 with Nutrition.

Would my next semester be difficult? since I'll be taking A&P2 with Micro then (and possibly another class - i applied for Spring 2014 entry to a Nursing program that allows pre-reqs to be done while in the program)?

(Unfortunately, Nutrition is now closed so hopefully the prof will let me in) - fingers crossed*

I took micro with nutrition and biology last semester along with 2 other classes. All 3 sciences went hand in hand in general which helped. Got all As!
