wound vac question

Published

Has anyone ever done a wound vac over a skin graft? I was wondering if there was any different supplies that I needed and if it was difficult to do. I have only done a few regular wound vacs dsg changes and I was a little nervous. :uhoh21:

I did one just today. If the tissue looks very fragile or begins to look worse after removing the sponge, I usually update the MD and ask (if continuing) if they would like Adaptic or switch to the versafoam. I have even seen Adaptic and Xeroform applied before the sponge. Not sure how much therapy the wound is receiving.... Nope, nothing different is needed unless ordered. Still just the sponge/foam then the drape and trac pad. I have found that bridging out the sponge and applying the trac pad out away from the wound often works well if not better than applying the trac pad directly on top of the wound. Just my :twocents:
