working part-time during an ABSN program

Is it possible to work part-time during an accelerated BSN program? I would like to be able to keep my PCT job at the hospital part-time for the tuition benefits and experience.

Some of the people in my ABSN group worked part time (~16 hours/week). There was one very dedicated guy who continued to work full time (OUCH). He'd often be busy working on stuff for work, while sititng in class. Not the ideal approach, I know, but it worked out OK for him.

If you do decide to continue working part time, you might want to give your boss a "heads up" that you might need extra flexibility with your work schedule. There will be times when you must devote your full attention to your class work/clinicals, and will be unavailable for your PCT job.

By keeping your PCT job, that will hopefully give you a head start with the job search as you approach graduation.

GOOD LUCK!
