Wondering

Hi all in Ohio!

I work for an Ohio based staffing company, and work out of the NE Ohio Corporate branch. I won't say which one, as I'm not trying to use the forum to recruit! =)

I'd like to ask for opinions though from anyone reading... I'm not a nurse, so I can't say I completely understand what makes you tick. However, I can say I've met so many wonderful nurses in my life (be it through work or personal matters). I admire nurses so much, for your patience, caring and devotion to your work... I myself could never be a nurse... it seems like such a hard job sometimes!

So what I'd like to know is what sort of things do *you* as a nurse value in your career? What sort of incentives are attractive to nurses? What is the perceived feeling about working with a staffing agency? Is it good? bad?

I really appreciate any replies you have to offer.

Thanks!

So what do I value:

1. Decent rate of pay.

2. Decent schedule.

3. Decent patient/nurse ratio.

4. Respect from physicians and coworkers.

5. Safe work enviornment: lifting help, security that really responds to a need, administrations that treat us as valued employees, not just as a necessary expense.

6. Professional and fair evaluations.

7. Paid learning opportunities.

8. Free parking.

9. No customer is always right attitude from administration, HN, CN or physician.

10. No calls on time off begging for extra staff, unless it is a real emergency, I knen the staff was low on a particular day, I did not offered to work extra on the sign up sheet. DO NOT CALL ME! I have other plans.
