winter class, just 4weeks!

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm just thinking out loud, and want to get everyone's opinion. I'm a wife with 2 kids, and I'm planning on taking History and English 1301 this winter. Do y'all think is a good idea? Or should I take just one class? Please let me know if is doable; that is, if you ve done this before, comparing a mother of 2 little kids. Ages, 3 & 2. Your input is very much appreciated!

I don't have children, but I did work full time last winter while taking a communication (speech) course and a lower level math course, and my session was only 2 weeks!

I'm also going to take a last minute college algebra class this winter (2 weeks) while working again.

Anything like this 'can be done' it's can it be done well while keeping the rest of your life in balance. Prioritizing and having a good support system always left me answering that last question with a yes.

What specifically is "English 1301"? Are each of them 4 wks long and how many hours per week are these courses? It is always do-able, just depends on how stressed you want to be at the end of the day lol.

If that English class is composition or literature, I would say you would have to plan for having a significant amount of homework. Not difficult if you have a few hours at night maybe to read/write. History is mostly reading. I still say it is possible, you may have to adjust and find what works for you though maybe calling in some support system people at times! Good luck!

I have two children as well...and unless you have help with the kids, I think it would be challenging.

Thank y'all! I guess I may start planning towards that, coz I just have to. The English is a composition 1, 3 credit hrs. and I think is 5 days in a week.

I think it's doable. Just be prepared for a lot of writing. I am taking english comp right now along with 4 other classes and I have papers due all the time. Plus I am a single mom to a seven year old whose main activity requires traveling all over the country almost every weekend. I manage A's in all of my classes though. It's about time management. If you effectively plan your time it shouldn't be a big deal.

I also have a winter session class that last 3 weeks! I'm a mom of 1 and work full time! The classes I'm taking are intro to computer applications, general psychology, and invitation to the New Testament. 3 classes in 3 weeks sound CRAZY! But I have to have 31 credits transferable credits before March 1 so I'm pushing it! Lol

Yes. They are all online. But I'm really motivated to get into the nursing school here so I don't think it would be too much of a problem.

I know right? Lets keep encouraging each other! :-)
