Just a bit of venting so that I can release some stress...

My application went before the board the first Wednesday of December. I still have not heard anything and I'm completely stressed! My brother-in-law told me that the military pretty much shuts down after December 1st until after the New Year. This being the case, I *still* feel worried that I haven't heard anything. Any words of wisdom for a worried hopeful Navy nurse?

Happy New Year!!!!!

Hello,

It is stressful but, try to be patient.

My packet was initially before two boards, (October and November) and not picked up until the December Boards.

I know of two people who were picked up by the December boards and we pretty much both knew before Christmas.

One good thing though is that if you have not heard, that means it is likely that you were not rejected!

When I was passed over I didn't find out for over three weeks, then we resubmitted and it was picked up.

The first time I sent it in I was rejected, "immediately" due to needing to fix my application.

The results from the December Board are out already. I do not know why your recruiter hasn't been in touch with you. However, I would not worry just yet, if you weren't picked up, there is always, "re-packaging!"

If I wasn't picked up this time around I had already spoke with an Air Force recruiter who said the AF would likely take me.

Feel free to pm me, I may have some more information for you regarding the December Board.

I feel your pain! It felt like it took forever for my package to go through! But hang in there!

Although GENNAVER as good words of advice, different branches operate on different timelines. The Army list may be out, doesn't mean the Navy one is, so relax. Yes, it is stressful, my DUINS packet went up OCT '05 and I didn't hear about it until JAN '06. And yes, the Navy does go on "holiday schedule" starting the beginning of DEC. It's an unwritten thing where people slow way down and things pile up on desks until after the new year. If you don't hear anything by the second week of JAN, call your recruiter to hunt it down.

Thanks everyone! Waiting is no fun, but I'm hoping that it will pay off. I hope to have good news soon. Until then, have a safe New Year!

If anyone has a sample packet. Please let me know. I am trying to put mines together. I want to make sure I get everything together the right way from letters of recommendations, format, to my on personal letter

Once your application is complete you don't get to keep anything. Instead it is all sent in to the board. Never fear, you recruiter will help you by reviewing all of your materials and then it is sent to a middle-man to review once more before the board. They will catch all mistakes and have you correct them first. The should also provide you with all the proper forms to fill out, which includes the recommendations. The only thing you really fill out on your own is a personal statement. Even in that case I was given a very specific format in which to write it. It all seem daunting at first but don't worry, you'll get it done!
