Why Is It So Hard To Find A Job As An LPN?

Published

I graduated in September 2008 in practical nursing and received my license in November 2008 as an LPN. Currently, I am employed part-time at a home health agency which is emptying my money out of my pocket because they don't pay mileage, the pay is only per visit not hourly, and your not always sure if you can cash your check. Well needless to say I am looking for another job. Anyways, I have applied for jobs and it's either they are not hiring or they tell you they decide to hire someone with a little more experience, and when they say that all I can think is "how can you get the experience if your not given a chance". Being a single mom and knowing you're the only source of income for your children becomes hard and frustrating. I am considering going back to college for my associates degree in nursing. Can anyone recommend a good college? I live in Athens, OH the 2 I have considered is Hocking College and Rio Grande College. Or does anyone know if any company is doing any hiring? :nurse:

My cousin lives in Ohio, the Columbus area if I'm not mistaken. She is also a LPN and she has 3 jobs! She is also in school full time to complete her RN. She says that sometimes that the job offers are so much that it's overwhelming! She also says alot of the job offers has to do with the location. Granted, I'm in GA so I'm not familiar with Ohio but I guess depending on where you live will determine how many jobs are available. Good luck!
