hi, i'm pretty new here. i'm an lvn student (second semester in a three semester program) and i just recently passed the cna exam. i've been looking for work but i've been having trouble and i was hoping for some advise on what i've been doing wrong.
i used to live in san diego and worked as a phlebotomist for almost a year when i found out my husband had been cheating on me. i had nowhere to go in san diego so i gave my employer my two weeks and moved back to my home town to finish school. when asked my reason for leaving (on applications) i alwas write "moved to *town i currently live in*"
as soon as i moved back i got a position at the only hospital in town (in the lab) working prn. basically, i worked any shift and was called in frequently. in my third month there i was called in short notice for an overnight shift, it was the third time that week and although i had said yes the previous times i absolutely could not come in. the following week i checked the schedule and my supervisor had erased my name from the schedule for the rest of the month because she was mad at me (i found this out from the lab manager). from then on she made my life hell and after four months of working i gave my two weeks. whenever i'm asked the reason i left that position i always write "personal" because i don't know what else to write.
there are three ltc facilities with good reputations and i put in applications at two of them (the third isn't hiring) last week. i haven't heard from either of the facilities and i'm worried that writing "personal" on the application is what's keeping them from calling. am i just too anxious about work? should i write something different? i know there's a can shortage in town so why can't i get hired?
any advise would be appreciated.

If there's a CNA shortage in your town, I have to believe it probably is because you wrote "personal". I would probably just write "schedule conflicts" and see what happens. If you haven't had any luck with "personal", what do you have to lose?

Just write that hours were cut down from full time and that you needed full time hours.
