Why is finding scholarships so difficult?

I seem to be spending so much time searching for scholarships. I always get led to sites that want me to buy stuff to get the info. UGH!!! Where are the best sites to search over nursing scholarships? :banghead:

I think the best place to look is at the school you are attending. They have tons of scholarships specifically for nursing students where I go. You write a general essay that can apply to almost all of them. I tend to stray away from scholarships found online, especially ones that try to charge you money. They just never seem very legit in my opinion.

I'm with you!

I feel like if I were 1) below the poverty line 2) had a 4.0 in all of my previous college coursework....I would qualify for something.

As it is, we make too much money to qualify for need based scholarships (but barely enough to get by with a family of 5) and I have a 20 yr old BS degree with a 2.6 that drags me down every where I turn (even though I have a 4.0 in the 22 credits I have from pre req's the past year).

I will second looking at your school first. I never thought for a second I could be considered, basically was told to forget it, but then out of no where I received a letter stating I was recieving $1700 a year from my CC. I thought for sure there was a mistake. I even called them to let them know they had made an error...but they assured me that they picked me. Apparently, my CC was only looking at my 22 recent credits and based their scholarship on that. The BSN pograms I was also looking at would only consider my total, cumulative GPA...including my 20 yr old grades.

Can you guess which program I chose?

Best wishes and keep trying! The good news is we do have the availability of tuition reimbursement in nursing. Not many majors/fields have that!
