WHNP program at USA

Good Morning All,

I was wondering if there is anyone on allnurses that can provide some information for me about the WHNP program. As anyone knows who has applied to NP school, it is a LOT, and very competitive. It has been a VERY long process for me from last year until now, awaiting admissions decisions and completing school requirements, but I am glad to finally say that I have been admitted into a NP program. I applied to UAB, USA and two local programs where I am from as well. I was initially interested in WHNP but applied for both FNP and WHNP depending on the schools because a lot of people told me not to limit myself by choosing the WHNP specialty. As fate would have it, I was accepted into the WHNP and am ecstatic about it because I love women's health. I have been a nurse for 7 years, and 4 of that has been as a public health nurse where we provide a lot of care to women in our Family Planning and Breast Screening programs. I do physicals, annuals, pap smears, pelvic exams and sti screening, pregnancy testing, also a lot of counseling and teaching.

I would love to hear about people's experience about their WHNP program in general, but particularly at USA. I have read SO many threads about USA on all nurses but most have been FNP information. Thanks to anyone who may reply.

Are there whnp's that I may email or pm about their educational experience and work history perhaps?
