I am going to start working on a minor in either Health Information Management or Health Services Administration. Does anyone have any insight on which would have more relevance in the hospital environment or give a leg up on other applicants when it comes time for the job hunt?

I don't think either major will be significantly better than the other for getting that first entry-level, new grad job right after graduation. You'd be better off choosing the minor that will help you get subsequent jobs -- that 2nd, 3rd, or 4th job. Choose the one that interests you most in relation to your long term career goals.
You will live your life (and career) in the long term, not the few months during which you will be hunting for that first job. Also, in your case, neither of the 2 possible minors is better-suited for that first job than the other -- but both would lead to opportunities later.
Which field interests you most for the long term?

So you are going to school to be a nurse and you want to do a minor in one of those 2 things? I think thats cool. Im going to school for nursing and I have been seriously thinking about getting an AA degree so I can transfer to a university and get a BA degree in Healthcare administration or something like that. I have been going back and forth between that and nursing for a while. I guess I could do that after nursing school, but I wonder if there is some sort of job that I would be able to use that and my nursing. Any info u have would be great! I think either one of those minors would be great and land you a great job. Good luck on your decision:D

The health information management will probably open more doors in the future. The health care industry is way, way behind in this area.
