Without going into too much detail, I need help. I have been disciplined at work, and I don't know who to turn to for help. HR will be no help (since they are the ones that pursued this discipline) and I am not part of a union. I feel that contacting an attorney may be the only option I may have, I just hate that I have to do that so soon and before trying to work this out with upper management, first. So, who do nurses turn to? Thanks.

This is really hard for anyone to answer with so few details. What kind of discipline? A reprimand? Suspension? Did they have a good reason to discipline you or do you believe yourself to have been wrongly accused?
How long have you worked there? Is your employee record unblemished until now, or have you had more than one problem since you started working there?
Can you not just accept the discipline as a learning experience and resolve to do better? Is there a charge nurse or another more seasoned nurse who could be the voice of reason?
The reasons to contact an attorney would be: 1. You have been an exemplary employee 2. You have been falsely accused 3. The outcome will result in loss of income or have serious ramifications for your career.
