Where do OR nurses go?

Published

Are there any OR nurses out there that have become disenchanted from the OR? If so, how did you "snap out of it" or did you (or someone you know) venture into another specialty (if so, what specialty)?

New employer. I love what I do; I am not happy with the management at my current employer. I dread going in to work every day. Many days, I cry tears of frustration on my way home. I have put out several applications for new OR positions and have had a few interviews. The grass may not be greener on the other side, but the fertilizer can be much more palatable.

Have you tried other areas? OR has been the best so far for me. I've worked in 5 different areas and there is no perfect job. I feel disenchanted because I'm forced to learn Pre-op and Post Op and have no desire to work in these two areas.....I usually write down the positive and negative about the job in question. I work part time in two different specialties.

Clinical Nurse Leaders or whatever they're called - My O.R. has one of those. She was a Clinical Facilitator until she got her degree, and now she is a CNL. I don't know if my brain could handle that right now, I'm going through a little burn-out ... Right now I also feel like a CNL is a person who is constantly having to find new ways to make our jobs more difficult, LOL. ...
