Where to apply

I just found out I passed the LPN program today. I still have to study and take the NCLEX though. I want to start applying to some jobs, but not sure which ones. There are several in the paper this week: nursing home (PT & FT), mentally disabled, and the local jail. I applied at a local hospital last week, but have'nt heard anything yet. Should I call and check on it? My gf says I should call around and send in resumes to all places. She has two part-time jobs already as nurse aid and will get promoted to nurse when she passes the boards. She thinks I should do the same thing, but I had enough of that type of work back in the first semester of clinicals. In clinicals I did'nt like the nursing home, med-surg was ok, kind of liked peds (exc. for some toddlers), and did like urgent care. So I'm thinking something like urgent care or a doctors office, but probly hard to get hired in FT. I do have a PT factory job to fall back on for awile, but need to start making some decent money to pay back school loans soon. What do you guys think? Also, is it better to send a resume, e-mail or apply in person? If I apply in person, should I wear scrubs?
