When to start applying?

Hello all,

I just wanted to know, when should I start applying for CRNA school? I have one year experience in Med Surg already and I’ll be starting in my hospital level one trauma center ICU in October of this year. I plan on doing 2 years before applying to CRNA school. However, most schools application deadline is June to October, if I apply during that time, I’ll be close to 2 years when applying and close to 3 years when I’ll be admitted. My question is do I wait until I have completed 2 years in total and then apply because at that point I’ll have to wait until next Summer to apply at that point I’ll be close to 3 years when applying and have 4 years when starting? I want to start soon as possible.

This minute, start studying for your GRE & CCRN. Get your ACLS, PALS, TNCC now if you can. If you haven't looked, target 4-5 schools that you want to apply to and see what prereqs they offer. Enroll and take 1 class at a time. By the time you hit 1 year, or a little less, you can start throwing out applications. If you get rejected, you have everything (and time to retake entrance exams!) you need to be a strong applicant the next season.

I got everything I needed done in 7 months, applied with 1 year of ICU experience. ? You got this!

Thank you very much for your words of encouragement! Hope to join you in the future!
