  1. This minute, start studying for your GRE & CCRN. Get your ACLS, PALS, TNCC now if you can. If you haven't looked, target 4-5 schools that you want to apply to and see what prereqs they offer. Enroll and take 1 class at a time. By the time you hit 1 year, or a little less, you can start throwing out applications. If you get rejected, you have everything (and time to retake entrance exams!) you need to be a strong applicant the next season. I got everything I needed done in 7 months, applied with 1 year of ICU experience. ? You got this!
  2. Hello! I am unsure whether to take a position I have been offered in a nurse residency float pool program. In this program, the novice nurse is cross trained on 4-5 units through the float pool. In the event that the novice like a floor or is asked by staff to remain there, they can stay on the unit for the rest of the residency. Otherwise, the novice can choose which unit to finish their residency on after cross training. There are regular meetings with other new grads and an EBP project. I was initially very excited to be offered this. However, after sharing with my colleagues, I've been scoffed at. I thought this would be a great opportunity since I will get to see if I actually like working on the unit and with the staff before I commit to a unit for 2 years. Are there any nurses who can offer their opinions? Thank you. I really appreciate it.
  3. Hey everyone! I am graduating next month with my BSN and am still in the interview / application process. Recently my university asked to do an interview with me for the school website. One of the prompts asks for the greatest challenge I have faced, which I consider to be struggling with multiple sclerosis. Although the illness has not caused significant disability, issues like chronic pain have proven to be a significant challenge and learning experience for me in nursing school. I feel that this is integral to my experience, however I am worried that employers may discriminate against me for this diagnosis. Am I right to be wary? or am I thinking too much into this? Thank you :)
