When the end has come

My night manager shared the story of her first patient she had lost. When she made the phone call to the funeral home, no one answered so she left a message that Mrs. so and so had passed and they needed to come and pick up her body. An hour later the family called in tears there was a message on the answering machine that their mother had passed and they needed to come and pick her up! OOPS!!!! I probably should not have laughed, but I could not help it!

I found out my grandmother had passed when the funeral home called my house at 5 am to ask for my mother (Iwas 16) I asked to take a msg since last I knew she was at the hospital with my grandmother, when they said "This is so and so at the funeral home calling about funeral arrangements for (my grandmother). I replied with a "She died?" and he said "Oh, you didn't know?" I guess they didn't even wait for the body to get cold. I will NEVER forget that phone call.
