When to apply

When is the right time to apply for a correctional nursing job as a new grad? I graduate in June (2019). Thanks.

I'm replying based on my own experience when I was a new grad. I would say 2-3 months prior to the time you expect that you are able to work... Graduate, pass NCLEX, and get professional liability insurance. Hope that's helpful. Wishing you all the best in your new career.

Hey I graduate in May 2019 and I just applied to the county's correctional facility last week. I talked to HR and they told me to go ahead an apply even though I haven't graduated but to print out a unofficial copy of my transcripts that would show I'm in process of completing my last semester of program. This application is online so I had to attach it as a word doc along with attaching my BLS and resume to my online application. The gal in HR said that for them to go over all those applications and set up interviews can take months. I would apply now too if I were you. Hope this helps!

I suggest contacting HR for whatever agency you are applying with. Some agencies (mine included) will not accept an application for an RN job from someone who is not already licensed.
