I would entitle the paper "Life." Then with each paragraph you can point out a new area of life that causes you problems. For example, one paragraph can focus on finances, one on childcare (if you have kids), one on education, one on maintaining your home, etc. At least you get the picture. If you give the statement "What's your problem?" a broad base, such as life, then achieving 500 words really isn't that hard. I had to write a 500 word essay the other day on critical thinking. I got it done in just a couple hours. Make an outline of the subject of each paragraph. Before you put the paper together, put those subjects in an appropriate order with like topics next to one another, then compile your paper. I hope this helps.

Thanks !! I will try and see what i can come up with. Critical thinking-hey i would have loved this one. at least you find find s tuff in books or online to keep you goiung, hey i'm not saying that's easy though. i'm usually a really good writer, but not on topics like this one :jester:

i was thinking too, maybe write about an ethical issue, you knwo something that has been bothering you (or me ha ha) like some people's attitudes or an ethical problem at work....what do you think ?

I would take one of the ideas you have and just start writing. when you feel like you have nothing left write some more. you can go back and edit, that's when the best writing comes

I wish I had an assignment like that! I have so many things I could write about! 500 words would be nothing - I would wind up writing a novel!

Don't give this prof too much real info about you! It could come back to haunt you when you least expect it!

You could even make up a pretend story about your neighbors/roommates dog. Or something a friend does that drives you up the wall. Right now my son is walking back and forth in the hallway outside my office w/his earphones on. Sometimes he walks into my office and behind the chair. Makes me nuts. That sort of thing.
