When I was 21 years old I was arrested for a hot check. I was never formally charged (I paid the check amount plus fees) and the case was dismissed but it still shows up in a background check as an arrest and dismissal. The County Attorney's office told me it shouldn't affect mein the future. Should I pay an attorney to expunge it? I also have 3 speeding violations but I paid those and they were also dismissed. Would they matter? I have read so many threads about the trouble people are having with the BNE and I would much rather avoid it if I could.
