What is the SNF unit?

I just got my first clinical assignment today... i'm not sure what kind of unit this is (SNF)... Can someone please explain. Thanks. Oh and thanks to 2 hurricanes our entire syllubus has changed... its ridiculous. We haven't even had our first lecture exam yet... and we have like 9 or so weeks of school left. Everything is gonna be given back to back. I HATE THIS! Thank God hurricane season will be over come next semester when I have pharmacology and med-surg.

Skilled Nursing Facility....Old folks home is what some people call it. Hard work for the CNA mounds of paper work for the advanced practictioner. If you can survive....you can do anything.LOL

Skilled Nursing Facility.....we have one at my hospital. It's kind of like med-surg step down. They are too sick or weak to go home or to a nursing home, not necessarily a rehab candidate, but no longer acutely ill that they need hospitalization.

Good luck. Skilled care is what med-surg was many years ago (med-surg is now what ICU used to be) and you should learn a lot there.
