What field to start in?

Hello, I'm about to graduate from an ADN program in Oregon. My career goal is to get my masters within as few years as possible and start teaching at the CC level.

I'm not sure what area of nursing I should start out in. I currently work as a clerk in a fairly large ICU and have a good relationship with the manager who wants to hire me when I graduate. I'm not sure if I want to go do critical care if my goal is to teach. I've seen what the new grads go through ( )and it seems like the transition would consume my life for the first year or so at least.:banghead:

I've thought about just shooting for an easier position on a med-surg floor or even OR, thinkning that this might lend to- less stress, more time to focus on school.

I think I would enjoy myself more doing ICU in the long run, but I'm totally fine with the idea of working med-surg etc.

Your experiences and advice are appreciated!
