What can NPs do and not do?

Does anyone know where I can find a listing by state of what NPs can and cannot do? I'm interested in finding out about prescribing proceedures and whether or not they can be in private practice. I live in Missouri, so if anyone knows their restrictions it would be appreciated! Thanks!!

Missouri requires a collaborative agreement document with a physician.

Taken from the Missouri State Board of Nursing General Rules (page 13) accessible in:

http://www.sos.mo.gov/adrules/csr/current/20csr/20c2200-4.pdf

"The collaborating physician shall consider the level of skill, education, training, and competence of the collaborating registered professional nurse or advanced practice nurse and ensure that the delegated responsibilities contained in the collaborative practice arrangement are consistent with that level of skill, education, training, and competence.

© The methods of treatment and the authority to administer, dispense, or prescribe drugs delegated to the collaborating registered professional nurse or advanced practice nurse in a collaborative practice arrangement shall also be consistent with the scope of practice of the collaborating physician."

This should have most of what you need to know state by state.
