What can I do?

Published

Silly me, I applied to FSCJ for the Spring 2011 semester with only 158 points  (no Sociology or Human Growth & Development classes); I wish I had found this site earlier because it seems that despite the fact that the application says "minimum of 120 points to apply" - it may need to say more like 190...anyways I have a few friends who are RN's and they say go where you need to go and get the RN...time is marching on, am 38 and have a BA in History and feel that no amount of positive thinking will get me into this program...so any thoughts on Concorde Career Institute, Chamberlain or other "for profit" schools in the Jacksonville area? Thanks!

After spending many hours reading "pre-nursing" posts, you finally get a picture that the "minimum" will never do!

Finish your pre-reqs and max out on the NAT. It will most likely take 195++ (closer to 200) pts to get accepted. When I started, I had 217 pts.

While you are waiting for your acceptance letter, beging your pre-reqs for your BSN or MSN.

Good Luck!

Specializes in none.

I agree with FLmomof5, try to get the highest score you can on the NAT and finish up your prereqs. If you have a low grade in a math or humanities class (or both) take another class in the same area (say if you have a C in college algebra, take statistics) and if you get a better grade, they'll use that one.

Also, have you looked at the accelerated BSN programs at UNF and JU? Since you already have a bachelor's degree, you might have a great chance at getting in to one of those programs.
