What can be expected?

Published

Hi all,

I have a simple question yet the answer will probably vary.

I have read and re read a lot of the negative stuff regarding RN new hires. It seems that either expectations where either too high or hazing the new grads was more than one could bear. Possible even a combination of both.

I chose this profession for several reasons. One was stability and the seeming endless different areas a RN could perform. I have not heard enough positives about the profession. Maybe I should say I would like to here more.

What does the typical RN vacation schedule look like? Does it increase with years on the job?

Thanks in advance:D

Welcome.

You're going to see a lot of negatives vented on this forum. For me, it's a safe place to express my frustrations to people who can definitely relate to what I'm saying.

It may take a while to find your niche, but nursing is pretty unique in that there are soooo many avenues you can take in your career.

As far as vacation goes, most places I've worked have a PTO system, where you earn so many hours a year for time off, and that increases over the years employed in increments usually of 5, 10, 15 and so on.
