Wanting to get to DFW area

Hi everyone....

My family and I are wanting to get to the DFW Texas area within 2-3 months. I have newly acquired my Texas RN license and have been actively seeking permanent employment with no luck. I was thinking about taking a travel/agency position to at least get me out there with my family to follow and then continue to pursue a permanent position if the agency thing does not quite work out. I have no idea where to even start looking. When doing an internet search so many companies come up and I am not sure which ones are good, ect. We have 6 children so health insurance is a must as well as good wages and a reputable company. I have 3 years L&D/ Postpartum experience and 1.5 years PACU experience so either of those positions would be suitable. Any help with finding several good companies that service the DFW area would be appreciated as well as your thoughts and opinions on all of this.

Thanks so much!

I think with L & D experience, especially that much of it, if you want to work it, you will be able to with no problems. DFW is a HUGE area, so first determine what part of the Metro area you will be living in, at least at first, then see what hospitals are close. DFW has so many hospitals! I honestly do not think you will have to use an agency, just check the hospitals and sign on under part time status with benefits. It is almost guaranteed that you will get overtime enough to make full time hours. If not, there are enough hospitals, that you can sign on per diem at other hospitals near by.

Funny thing I happen to be looking to head to Texas for a travel assignment and if I had L&d experience I would have been hired 2 weeks ago!! That seemed to be the only need out there, which does not help a tele nurse. I was told by one compay though that if I wanted a job in Texas to use Allaboutstaffing, so that is who a called 2 days ago! I now wait with fingers crossed!!
