Wanting to become a RN

Hi, I am currently a Medical Assistant and really want to further my education and become a RN. Does anyone have a suggestions? How much harder will the classes be? I am just looking for other people who have done this and might have a few ideas or pointers. Thanks

hi there, I just started Anatomy and physiology this semester. Lots to study! I find it hard to get back into school after a long time not in school. sarah

I'm a medical assistant as well. Congrats on your decision to go back to school! :)

Classes need to become an RN are NOTHING like MA school. However, if you try hard, and are determined, I'm sure you'll be fine!

I not in nursing school yet, but hope to start in January. Don't settle with being an MA if an RN is what you really want to be. :)

Good luck!

Yeah I am also taking Anatomy and Physiology right now. I am actually taking it online, which I think is making it alittle harder as I am a more Hands On person. But I am holding strong with and "A" right now. I also have been out of school for about 10 years and was very nervous to go back. But I have realized that not having a degree isn't gonna get ya a good job. Well best of luck to you and your future school success.

How long are you gonna have to be in school in order to get your RN? How have you liked being a MA? Are you finding it hard to find a job as a MA? Best of luck with your new adventure going back to school.

I haven't worked as a MA in a while, so I'm not sure how the job market is right now. I do know, in my area, it seemed a little saturated.

The last MA position I was in was as a Office Manager of a Chiropractor job @ $11/hr. Awesome wage for a MA around here, but I was not happy. Being an MA was only a stepping stone. ;)

I have been going back to school since Nov '04 doing my prereqs & support classes, but I have been taking mostly one class at a time fast-track. I have all of my pre-reqs & support classes finished. This semester I'm working on Chemistry & my humanities elective which will go toward my RN-BSN. (I didn't want to waste this semester as I wait to find out if I start in January.)

Once I start, I'll have 4 semesters to get my ADN.

Online classes are probably a lot harder. I am taking a evening course that thankfully doesn't last the 5 hours is scheduled for. Good luck to you too:D
