Wanting to be ahead of the game -Help!

Published

Hi there everyone! This is my first post and am so excited to have found these boards. I am a 33 year old stay at home mom to 3 little boys. My twins are 6 and in 1st grade. My youngest is 4 and in all day Pre-k at the elementary school with his brothers. I have been married for 15 years next month and have been going to school off and on for years. The last class I took was when I was 8 months pregnant with my last child and haven't been back until this semester. With all 3 boys finally in school, I can devote these 8 hours a day to myself finally and finish my own schooling. I kinda hit it at the wrong time cause the new class will be starting this month and I have 2 classes to finish and take the NLN. So for me, its finish these classes this semester, study and take NLN, and then get ahead of the game by studying my tail off for the 7 months before the next class starts next August. Im sad I have to wait, but I see it as an opportunity also. (Well provided I get in my first try)

Anyway, I'm writing to you to get any recommendations on study guides or books that I should get to begin a good library. I know I need a good guide for the NLN test and will look into all recommendations. But also the best books to study in general that will help me in the program as well as in the field later. I would just really like to make dang good use of this waiting period. :)

Thanks for any and all responses! I hope to talk to you all very much in the near future.

A really good book I used was "test taking strategies for beginning nursing students" and any nclex review =) good luck!

You should see my bookcase! Pretty much any and every nursing book I've ever seen, I have bought. And I won't get rid of any of them! They helped through school but more importantly serve as resources now that I'm out and working.

One AWESOME book I found online for $2 - the Illustrated Guide of Nursing Practice. It's a little old - late nineties or early two thousands - but a great reference. Pretty much anything you can get will help. Good luck!
