How long will I have to wait before I receive my ATT? I'm from the Philippines. Will it be longer? I read in one of the threads that Pearsonvue will be the one to issue the ATT. Do I have to pay pearsonvue the same time I pay for my application to CA BON or do I have to wait for a letter from the CA BON? My aunt told me that I should use her address in the US so that I can receive the ATT faster. Is it true? Thanks.

Yes, you will wait longer than an American-trained graduate for your credentials to be verified. You have to allow time for them to be sent directly from your school to the BON, etc. And for them to be approved. On average about six months, can be as early as four months.
Yes, it is true that Pearson-Vue sends the ATT, but only after they receive payment from you and authorization from the BON.
Where will you be sitting for the exam? You must have the ATT in hand to be permitted in to the testing center. You can also receive the ATT via e-mail from Pearson-Vue. Unless you will be taking the exam in the US, keep your original address that you used for the BON for your ATT, or you may run into address difficluties with the BON later on.

Do I have to wait for a letter from the CA BON before I pay Pearson Vue? Eventhough I have a tourist visa for US, I'm thinking of taking it in Hongkong because of the expenses. Thanks for the info. :)
That is up to you.............once you receive the ATT, you will have 90 days to take the exam.
Have you applied for the Visa Screen Certificate yet? And completed your English exams?

I haven't applied for Visa Screen nor completed ILETS. I still have to take the licensure exam here in the Philippines this June. I'll be processing my papers afterwards. I already have the application form for CA BON and the fingerprint hards cards with me. I'm thinking of taking IELTS while I'm waiting for my ATT.
If I were you, I would submit the application for the Visa Screen as soon as possible. As long as you have completed your nursing program, then get it sent in. It can take months for them to get verification from your nursing school, etc.
If your goal is to work in the US, there is actually no requirement that you need to sit for your exam in your home country. Unless you plan on working as an RN there while waiting for everything to be processed. :)
If you haven't submitted anything yet, I highly recommend that you go the New York route for initial licensure. They will issue you a hard license once you pass the NCLEX, California will not until you have a Social Security Number which makes it very hard to endorse to another state if you decide to change locales before you begin work. :)

Hi there! i was just confused with what you've just posted there ms. suzzane :) ..correct me if i'm wrong....i think its a prerequisite for filipino nurses to take local board exam to be able to apply for nclex...otherwise, i wouldn't have taken my local board then after that start processing my application for CA BON and wait for my ATT to come???...it's just so confusing, the reason i chose CA coz it don't require me CGFNS to be able to sit in for NCLEX.....i'm waiting for my ATT since they have already confirmed that they have received my application form thru my auntie who is in cali right now, well, i've downloaded my form and definitely don't have any confirmation card but my auntie has requested for some forms also and i guess she indicated her address there for confirmation if they have received it...is that ok???..pls let me know if i'm right :)

I am a RN from Germany with 15 years experience. Received my education, etc. in Germany. Recently I received my Green Card. I am in the US. I applied for the RN Licensure by Exam mid April. Did not receive any letter from CA Board of RN. They did cash my check in April (assuming they are working on my file)
Anybody knows the time frame for their processing an application?
Also, was I supposed to receive any letter confirming they received my application?
I sent them an email one week ago, but no response from them.
Will it help if I call?
Thank you for your help.
