Hi this might be a little long sorry about that. I am a new grad RN, I went on an interview last Wednesday for a position in a jail working for a company called PHS. The interview went very well. The manager introduced me to all of the staff, and gave me a tour around the jail. She walked me out and turned in my information so she could have my background check done by the county. She said it should be back either on Friday or Monday. I called on Monday and she said that they were not back yet, that she would schedule orientation when she got them back. I also had another interview on Thursday which I have not heard back from yet at a long term care facility, Another interview Monday at another LTC facility, and I have an interview scheduled for tomorrow at yet another LTC facility. I really want the job at the jail, but I really need a job right now. My family and I have been struggling for 3 years now. Any advice? I am in Michigan. How long does a jail background check take?

Background checks can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
That being said, keep interviewing until you get a formal job offer...because it doesn't matter what checks they run or how promising the interview seems or what they say to you about orientation and working there and etc. during the interview--until you get that formal job offer, you don't have a job.
So don't stop interviewing now. And you can always cancel future interviews once you get something official.
Good luck!
I got the job at the jail!!! The lady called and offered me the position this afternoon!
Then I guess your problem is solved . Congratulations!
Thanks Meriwhen! :)

Hi I have an interview with the PHS also at a jail next week. I was wondering what kind of questions did they ask you? Thanks
