Hello, I am currently waiting for an answer from the BON for previous convictions. I passed the NCLEX PN in February and I got a letter saying that my application will be delayed do to previous convictions record!!! I don't have any DUIs, battery, assault, possession of controlled substance, or anything in that matter. They are all misdemeanor traffic violations (4 in total)!!! I wrote letters explaining in detail the events that lead to each violation conviction and sent a package to them. Plus, they are from 2001, 2003 and 2005!!! Well it sucks but I have to wait I guess. :(

has anyone here gone through this?? anyone??

Yes I did... took all of 2 days for California enforcement to release my file for licensing. Call your enforcement worker, and ask if there is anything that they need from you. Did you inform them of these tickets? I know they are less lenient if you don't disclose them.

With all the respect fxmama, but 2 days does not seem a long wait to me!!! Its been almost 2 months since I passed the NCLEX. And yes, I did report these tickets.

It honestly wasn't long at all. Is this for the CA BON? Have you contacted your enforcement worker? How fast were you going for the tickets? How far apart were the incidents? What they are looking at is to make sure these incidents are not just negligence and want to make are that you are not going to be a negligent nurse based off the history.

I took the NCLEX November 4th and 3 weeks later I received the same letter for the same reason. I fully disclosed this info to the board when I applied. I called the board in late January and within a week I received the approval letter. I think sometimes they need a lil push just to remind them that there is a person behind all the paper work. Good Luck.

I didnt, but I had 3 friends in nursing school who did. One had a warrant out for her arrest for like a whole $17 of a unpaid ticket from 10 years prior. I think they waited like 6 weeks. But our instructors had told them to write the letters PRIOR to taking the exam so that by the time the exam came they already had them in the system to be cleared. I would definently call and make sure they have everything that they need to get your paperwork done. Be persisitent. Talk to a different person everytime. Good Luck to you!

Thank you all for replying. I guess I just need to wait for the decision form the CA BON. It has only been like 2 weeks since they received my paperwork!!! I am really anxious because at work they are waiting for me to get my name on the BVNPT registry so they can switch me from CNA to LVN!!! This is the main reason. :)

It often takes the CA BRN several weeks to review and decide. That being said, giving them an occasional follow-up nudge (not more often than every week or 2) may help. Hang in there!

Thanks!!! I got the letter I have been waiting for, and "I've been approved!!!" I I am a California Licensed Vocational Nurse. The decision took 4 weeks. :) very happy right now.
