Verification Process

I am wondering, how detailed is this process? Will the hiring managers or the company they hire verify every smallest detail? The reason I am asking is because I have had a previous non-clinical position in a physician's office over 5 years ago (am a new GN now), and I don't remember what my ending salary was so on the on-line applications, I guesstimate but to be honest, I have no idea how close I am or not. Unfortunately, there isn't room for me to be "estimate" in the ending salary box either, and now I'm worried that this will completely disqualify me (or worse?) as a candidate.

    The background process is detailed - your job history will be checked & validated by reviewing your SSN/FICA activity to make sure that they coincide. However, specific salary data is not included, nor is it going to be provided by your former employers - so don't worry. Just put in a guesstimate.
