:angryfire ok im new to home health and i think i might go on ahead and quit. This company that i worked for suggest that we go to a vent class and i was under the impression that we get paid for the orientation hour we were there for 8- 9 hours...silly...my first question is will we get paid and they said no i was like okay so i sit through the tedious hours of talking about the vented patient and in the middle of the class we get this paper the first thing the teacher said out of her mouth was that she has nothing to do with this. the company wants us to sign a contract of sorts saying that we will guarantee 60 hours for vented patients by june or we will pay 150 for the class...HELL NAW!! first the class wasnt worth 150 dollars. and i work per diem so i will not guarantee them any of my hours....considering i barely work for them...im upset with them becuz they backdoored us...so they can fire me ill probably end up quitting, its not worth the pay anyway..but i apperciate you nurses that r able to do this kinda work..but i cant not for 16.00/an hour per diem no
benefits..AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!:angryfire
thats not the only thing..i asked if we could negoitated my pay rate the recruter said we talk about it never did.....then i ask on my first day on the job will i be following somebody..he said yes..then we i get to house a nobody there i have a note from the family...thank god they left me a note...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..i wanna punch this damn company in the face.......

Sorry, but you should always ask these things in advance, such as if it is paid for, and they should have told you.
My suggestion? You are not happy with them, then don't stay. You need a more reputable company to work for. But to even consider taking care of a patient on a vent, requires much more than a one day class. When you take on these types of assignments, you are being paid for your experience, and to not have it can cause grave issues for both you and the patient.
Please check out some other threads about this here.
yeah i agree..i will probably fire them. i have experience working with vented patients since i work in TCU at a pediatric hospital..but home care its probably very different...and i just know there gonna throw me out there to drown and im not about to do that.. . Its not about the pay either i just think there slick...like a snake
