Hello all! I'm taking Microbiology and Anatomy in the Spring. Have any of you taken either course online? It kind of worries me, but an Anatomy course is offered on a Saturday. ..bleh. just wanted to get some opinions!

Which school is this for? And which course titles? Really, it depends. I've taken online courses where the lecture is online, but the labs are in person every so often. I've also taken ALL online courses, where you either do online lab exercises, or you purchase a lab kit through a designated company and you do labs in your home (including dissections - cool stuff!).

Microbiology was completely online for me. It was BIO 150...I think? Plenty of reading, but I earned an A or B...can't remember which. I also took BIO 141 online, with the at home lab kit. Lots of work, but again, as long as you keep up with it, you can do it. I earned an A in that, however, I had taken NAS 161/162 previously, so I already had a good background in it - but now schools don't really want to accept NAS courses!

In both courses, all quizzes and exams were online, so you can imagine how easy it was to pass those... lol.

So as with any online course, you definitely need to have discipline and be able to teach yourself, because if you're going for nursing, you will definitely use what you learn!

I took both semesters of anatomy online through NOVA (ELI, BIO 141/142). Both semesters were kinda hard and there's a lot of studying involved, but if you study enough then you'll be fine. There are no +/- grades so both semesters I got like an 80 or an 81 to get a B grade. The online classes require you to buy so many books, with a total of the anatomy textbook, the lab workbook, a chemistry book, a study guide, etc. Turns out you don't need all those books because we were only graded on the tests (6 or 7 tests total), forum posts, and extra credit. I just bought the textbook and the study guide, and those two were all I used to study.

I'm taking both courses through TCC. I decided to do my A&P (141) lecture online with a Prof who had pretty rave reviews on Ratemyprofessor.com and my Microbio (150) in person twice a week. It's only a month away and I'm excited to go back to school, but I'm terrified I won't do well!
