Vanity Questions- AF

Hey All!

I just have some vanity questions regarding the AF.

1) Makeup at COT?

- Yes or No?

- I look like I am 18 as it is, despite being 22 in 4 days, and without any makeup such as just eyeliner, I appear younger at times.

2) Hair dryer or straightener at COT?

- Can we use them? Is there time to use them? Once again, my issue is that to get my hair, which is short-ish, to do what it needs to do to be within regulation I really need a straightener.

3) Watches

- Does it matter what kind of watch we have? Does it need to be a specific looking one or can it be any Fossil watch within discretion?

Like I said, these are more vanity questions than anything but questions nonetheless!

Thanks!

hey all!

i just have some vanity questions regarding the af.

i answered you in purple.

1) makeup at cot?

by the third or fourth day you'll have figured out how to grab four extra minutes to slap on some makeup if this is your thing. i know about looking younger and feeling a bit odd - i know it sounds stupid but i'm 36 and i get carded everywhere, regardless of who i'm with. there will be days you truly won't care, believe me - and i'm fairly consistent with makeup myself.

then there were days when a little bit of makeup really made you feel better.

- yes or no?

you can use them, but i don't know that you'll have time to use it every day. my hair hangs to my bra strap in back and i used to sleep with it up - but i haven't had short hair for years and wouldn't know what to do with it. you'll have to play this one by ear.

3) watches

- does it matter what kind of watch we have? does it need to be a specific looking one or can it be any fossil watch within discretion?

your watch has to be within regulations and it has to be a sports watch for you to wear it to pt. you can look up afi 36-2903 for the instructions.

like i said, these are more vanity questions than anything but questions nonetheless!

thanks!

Thanks much!

My hair barely touches the top of my collar and that's the longest its been in a while. I've been growing it out a bit but not too far because it just doesn't look good past that. Ha.

I love the topic of this post!!! lol

I personally will bring my CHI straightener if there is room in my bag. otherwise it is not going. I am taking a little bag of makeup... very little. I use tinted moisturizer with SPF everyday and I'm not planning on leaving that behind. I believe in sunscreen and since it has a tiny bit of coverage, it feels like makeup to me.

I figure if I want it, I'll have it. But if no time, who cares.

Just make sure your hair is well within regs to avoid being "singled out for individual attention." :)

I sure did try to get a little makeup on every day, but I attended COT in May and it was hotter than hell. By 0900 it had all dripped off so I just gave up.

The one thing I can say is if you don't have a CAC card going into COT and you get one there, try and put some makeup on before you get your picture taken. I attempted to get my ID card twice while there and each attempt was unsuccessful because they couldn't get my info correct (they had me keyed in as an 11 yo BOY!) The day they FINALLY get it right I had to report to the ID desk immediately following PT. I was redfaced, no makeup, and my hair was a hot-mess. I had to endure a terrible amount of teasing and trash talking before I was finally able to get a new one. Bottom line--picture day is a good day to make sure you take some extra care with your appearance! LOL!

The reg is to the bottom of your collar, but you'll have people who'll try to nail you for it anyway. It sounds fine to me. If you know you're within regs - and you are - don't sweat it.

And not only with your CAC - around week 2 or early in week three they come and take pics of you in your service dress uniform for you to purchase. I'll say this - people who saw mine said how good mine was in comparison to theirs - I took two minutes that morning and put on a flash-quick face. I'm the only one who had no dark circles under her eyes in the picture. It seriously paid off. Even I like the thing - and I HATE pictures!

I did the same with my CAC card and was again pleased with the result. I'm in blues on my CAC as well. Really not a bad photo (and I assure you I'm truly not vain!).
