Vanderbilt 2020 Pre Specialty

Published

Hello all, making a post again for people applying to Vanderbilt's pre specialty program. Look forward to hearing from everyone! Am I the only one who is giddy about them eliminating GRE scores from the application process?

hey! do you know their acceptance rate? I'm applying with a 3.4 so I'm not sure how competitive that is

Hi! I know it is competitive, but not exactly how much, I'm sorry! It also depends on the specialty you are doing. Psych and one other one that I cannot recall right now are the most competitive of all the specialties offered.

Specializes in NICU/ Mother-Baby.

What is the pre speciality program? Does anyone know which specialty is the most competitive other than psych? Thank you!

The pre specialty program is a program for those who have a bachelor's in something other than nursing. I do not know which specialty outside of psych is the most competitive

Hi everyone!! Excited to see how this whole process goes. Question regarding deadlines: I submitted my app November 1st, but I just got an email from admissions today saying that my app is now “complete” and that it will be considered in the priority review group. I’m just double checking that “priority review group” means that I made the priority deadline even though I got the notification two weeks after submission— anyone else receive this kind of email?

I did! And yes it means that you made the priority deadline.

Hey this may seem random but I also want to encourage those who think they won't fit in or be able to handle it to come if you are accepted. The school is good at accepting people who are able to do this work. It is comparatively diverse (economically and ethnically) for its category of program (top tier, competitive, accelerated...) and some of my friends who are doing tops in this program have had IEPs growing up or still need accommodations--Dyslexia, dyscalculia("math dyslexia"), ADHD. Our dean advises us to consider students who need accommodations whenever we are asked for input on test taking preferences. If they accept you--even from the waitlist, you can handle it!
