UVA RN New Grad Program

Published

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone has applied for University of Virginia's RN New Grad Program for 2011? I also wanted any input about the program if anyone is or has currently participated in it. I'm interested in applying since the job outlook in Hampton Roads isn't giving me much luck. I'm a recent new grad from Old Dominion University August 2010.

Jessica

Hey I applied for the program last month for the same reason. The new graduate program position is for may 2011 graduates only. The recruiter told me that I can apply for the RN clinician 1 positions. I graduated Dec. 2010.

jmunsg2010 thank you so much for your reply! It's good thing I didn't apply to the program. Have you applied to any of the RN Clinician 1 positions? If you have, I was wondering if they require you to add letters of recommendation? I'm just asking because I remember searching their employment website back when I was still in school and I saw one of their positions requiring letter of recommendation.

p.s. Have you had any call backs from jobs in Hampton Roads? I've basically applied to Sentara, Chesapeake General, Riverside, and Bon Secours (which I have yet to receive a call back...its been like 2 months and no call). I've only gotten called once from Sentara Obici for phone interview which I thought went well and they had set me up for a face-to-face interview a couple days later. BUT they cancelled it because they hired someone on the spot. :(

Your welcome. I applied for RN clinician 1 positions and the new graduate program at the same time, so I sent it the letters of recommendations because the program required it. But I am not sure if the RN positions require it.

I have applied to every hospital in hampton roads also. I had a panel interview at bon secours mary immaculate last week. They had 17 positions open there but I did not get selected. All the positions there are filled. I would call the recruiter. She is very nice and will work with you. I am currently waiting for Maryview to call me for an interview. Riverside only have new grad positions in the nursing home. Chesapeake is not hiring new grads til the summer. And Sentara has a lot of positions open but it seems so hard to get in there. I put in at least 15 applications with Sentara all over hampton roads. So I started looking outside the area. I applied to UVA, MCV, bon secours richmond, and Rex in Raleigh, NC.

I called the HR building of Mary Immaculate and they gave me a number in order to check the status of my applications for the New Grad positions. I only got the recording machine of the nurse recruiter named Whitney. Is that who you were referring? I left a message and I'm hoping she will call me back. Unlike Chesapeake General...I haven't gotten a call back from them after leaving a message on their machine...twice. But due to that, I'm glad you informed me they aren't hiring til summer. So I am also looking outside the area as well...well good luck in finding a job and congrats on your recent graduation in December!:)

Yes her name is Whitney. Mary Immaculate positions were all filled last week. Maryview in suffolk have positions open. She will call you back. She is good at returning phone calls. Thank you and good luck to you too. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

She definitely did get back with me. I have a phone interview with her scheduled for the afternoon today! :uhoh3: Do you know if it's just basic questions (i.e. strengths & weaknesses) or do they also throw in scenario questions?

Thanks good she called you back!! Sorry I replied back so late.

Hey I can't private message you through this website! They have a policy that you have to post 15 + discussions on their forum before private messaging members! Crazy! I hope you don't mind me emailing you. I got it from the private message you sent me which was emailed to me.

I know this thread is a little old but I applied for a position as a new grad for Bon Secours and received a phone call but I missed it. I called back and left a voice message but no response. Does anyone have any advice for how the recruitment process works?

My advice is to keep calling back btw 8-430pm and not btw lunch time which varies 1100-1pm until you get actual person on phone. When applying to position at hampton roads bon secour facilities the apps go to HR in Richmond Bon secours and I'm assuming the richmond facilities use the same HR for hiring. You go through telephone interview which was dreadful ( i thought). 20-30 questions that must be each answered but may skip and come back to ones you are stumped on. I think afterwards the same day if you pass they will let you know and then will provide you the offers or whatever you applied for. Whatever offer you choose they then set you up with a meeting/interview with manager of the unit or panel (which I didn't experience--i talked to unit manager). Good luck and hope you get a call back!
