UTMB Spring 2018

Hello everyone! I plan on applying to UTMB for Spring 2018 entry and can't find a post on it, so I decided to make one! I am taking my TEAS end of April. I already have a degree from the University of Houston in Health Communication and minor in Nutrition. I am finishing my last two prerequisites (A&P2, Microbiology) right now at a community college. Anyone else looking to apply? Deadline is coming up next month, so I thought it would be awesome to get a group thread going! Would love to hear from others applying!

Thank you so much! Would we have to get fingerprinted as part of the background check process?

Yes we will have 2 different background checks done on us as soon as they send emails to register for them, we will have a standard FBI background check with fingerprints and picture..then a private company do a thorough background check on us..as well as a urine drug test

So my friend is going down to Houston to get a general finger printing done for a different nursing school. Should I go with her or should I wait for UTMB to send us emails to register for them? It's like $50 so I just want to make sure I am not spending money on something that I don't need.

You can take one if you want too, just to make sure you are clean if you don't know but other than that it's a waste of money, only when utmb sends us the registration email will they need it as all the results will be sent to the school and I'm sure you need a school identification number to send results..so no I wouldn't bother with it

BTW UTMB just sent me the New Student Guide so check your emails!

Looks like they got contracted with a different background company and seems we have to send them our immunization records instead of utmb how awesome...

The one thing we can do is follow the link to our white coat ceremony and put down our sizes and submit it

I called UTMB on Tuesday and they said they haven't met since Harvey. So on Tuesday the admissions team got together, the lady I spoke to said she was going to update a lot of applicants profiles. So in 2 weeks we should be contacted. I interviewed on August 24, and I've been checking my email constantly...Good luck to everyone else that is waiting as well. (-:

@bam173 glad you called, i interviewed also on that day and was wondering. they told me in my interview that it would be most likely up to a month or so until we hear back. so that now makes sense.

Hey ya'll, I just got an email for an interview so for everyone that's still waiting, don't give up hope!!!

My mystar says Admitted!! :-) Looks like they are updating profiles today. Good Luck to everyone still waiting. I'm so excited!!

@alkrn Same here! Mine must have changed today also. What a relief the wait is over.

Actually the wait has just begun again..welcome and congrats to the both of y'all for joining me and the other accepted students
