Most people say it, so I will too....I know it is a little early...but I thought I will get a thread going. I am a long shot, but I am going to try. My 4 kids are raised and done college and now my wife (stay at home Mom (I could not have done it) now nurse, UTHSC ALUM May 10, 2013) is done and working at The Methodist Hospital in the Med Center. I will have 40 hours by the December 1st deadline and will finish my 60 hrs spring 2016. I will take the HESI A2 in September and maybe again in late October if necessary. Folks with 1st degrees, Associates, and better grades will be ahead of me, but I am 45 and decided I am not going to continue to do what I hate anymore. I love my family and spent 20+ years as a Commission insurance sales man to support them. I regret nor begrudge one second of it. My beautiful wife and best friend said why don't you do what makes you happy I will tow the line this time....and I am. God luck to all of you.

I admire your courage - it takes guts to make such a significant change. And massive KUDOS to your hon for supporting you in this effort.
I received my MSN from UTHSC-H... you realize that there are several "UTHSC's", right? So for clarity's sake, it's usually better to indicate which campus you're referring to. I'm sure that your wife's experience has already make this clear but I want to validate... you've chosen a wonderful nursing program - not just because it's a UTHSC, but also because of the TMC location that opens the door to a some unique educational experiences.
Wishing you all the best on your educational journey.
Thanks for the heads up on my needing to amend my title to reflect houston. Will do as soon as I can figure out how to edit. Actually I just sent email to admin to change to UTHSON Spring 2016. Thanks for you advice and kind words.

Hooray! From a UTHSC-H-SON grad, I am sending you lots of positive thoughts and luck. I had such a good experience there. I had classmates in different age ranges; so, please do not let that discourage you... EVER. IMHO, I think your life exp is an advantage to many of the new high-school grads that get in the program.
If you are going to the TMC campus for classes & clinicals; then, make sure you find out right away if there's carpool options with other students. I worked in TMC; ergo, I didn't have to pay for parking unless I was running uber late and that's $10/day back then. I don't even want to know how much it is now... I also did park & ride one semester. The buses stop right in front of UT or any of the hospitals. Plus, you can study or listen to your podcasts while riding.
Good luck to you!
