UTA RN to BSN online program course advice:

Specializes in Critical Care.

Come July 1st I am taking Holistic Health Assessment and I am out of work on STD due to a surgery so I was thinking of doubling up on the course work, since I am out of work. I have been reading the threads and see that a lot of people have mention this class being difficult. So my questions are: Is there a lot of paper writing with this course? Since I am out of work do you think I could manage two classes? If so which of this classes is easier: Holistic Care of the Older Adult or Health Promotion Across the Lifespan?

Any advice is welcome. Thank you in advance.

Thank you, this is my first time using this website.

No worries :)

Now to answer your question...Holistic Health Assessment is very time-consuming. You have to do detailed (and I really mean DETAILED) assessments each week, and for the final week you'll put all those assessment together into an APA paper. Throw in weekly DQs and quizzes as well. It's not a hard course, IMO.

As far as doubling up...I took with Health Promotion. Both courses were manageable together even with working about 20-30 hours a week at the time. Health Promotion has two main projects, the first requiring that you watch a movie (Freedom Writers, unless they decide to change it) during the first week because questions about it will be on the first test. The second is a book review due around week 4. Plus DQs and quizzes.

Older Adult would also be a good choice. Mostly DQs and quizzes, and lots of web videos...but in Older Adult, you do have to do a life review of an elder and write an APA paper from it. This has to be someone over the age of 70 and who IS NOT a relative or friend (so no calling on Grandma to help you out on this one). I took this with HIST 1311 and while working and I survived, so it's definitely doable with Health Assessment.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with just taking this one by itself and giving yourself a chance to relax. You'll have more than enough stress with some of your future courses.

Hope this helps.

So besides tedious assignments there is only one main paper to write in Holistic Health Assessments? Then lets say Health Promotion there is only two main papers to write which involve the movie and I think there is a book they want you to read as well for a book report so that is the second paper on top of the DQ and discussions. If that seems right let me know because that might be manageable for the last weeks I will have off prior to returning to work. What are some of the harder courses that I need to be aware of?

That does seem right, however, I took these courses last summer/fall so they may have changed since then.

Harder courses...Research, only because it's mostly group work-- I strongly recommend taking this one by itself. Vulnerable Populations is supposedly tough too..haven't taken it yet, it's the last class I need to take before Capstone.
