UT Austin or Texas Tech

Hello Everyone!

I'm currently attending Austin Community College and will apply for their ADN program this summer for a Spring 2012 admission. My overall goal is to get my BSN and when I attended a nurse information session at ACC, the nursing advisor told us that ACC has an articulation agreement with Texas Tech Health Science Center School Of Nursing (wow, what a mouthful-LOL) for ADN's pursuing their BSN. I live in Austin and do not mind taking online courses since TTHSC RN-BSN program is online but when I did more research I found out that UT Austin also has an articulation agreement with ACC for ADN's pursuing their BSN (I found it on UT Austin's SON website). I don't know why the nursing advisor did not disclose this information with us, she just said ACC only has an articulation agreement with Texas Tech.

I was wondering if anyone applied to, attending, or attended UT Austin's ADN-BSN program. I've seen quite a few posts on Texas Tech's RN-BSN program but haven't found any info or reviews on UT Austin's ADN-BSN program.

I know I'm a couple of years away from even applying to either programs but I would like to start early with my pre-reqs for either Texas Tech or UT Austin now so by the time I'm done with my ADN I can just transition smoothly into a BSN program.

Thanks for any help or advice you can give me!

Hi,

I completed my RN-BSN through Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, and the program was absolutely wonderful! I loved it! Before I was enrolled with them, I started the University of Texas @ Arlington and went to orientation and dropped all my classes. The program seemed ridiculously hard and I didnt think I could juggle all of their assignments while working and raising kids. I did not have that problem with TTUHSC, dont get me wrong, its time consuming but the work itself is not that hard. Just alot of reasearch and writing. My friend continued on with the UT@Arlington and she did not have kids or a family and still struggled throught the program and ended up with a couple of C's in her classes. She was a hard worker so that kind of suprised me. That just goes to showe that uTA program is difficult---Now I have no idea if thats the same scenario as UT at austin... I graduated with a 3.9GPA through Tech while working full time plus overtime and raising kiddos! Good luck to you!
