UPenn Second Degree BSN 2014

Hi! Has anyone else applied to UPenn's ABSN program starting this June? I believe we hear back next month so it's getting close! I didn't see another thread started for this cohort so I was just reaching out...

TolDoll,

Thanks a bunch for creating this thread. I am one of the ABSN candidates for June! I have contemplated creating a page like this but it seems like the audience is so small and the information available is so hard to come by! We are definitely a minority.

Have you interviewed in person or via phone yet?

@stretchyourmind I just got the email to select a time for a phone interview on Thursday. I replied back but Penn was closed Friday because of that snowstorm so I expect to hear back Monday. I didn't realize that we would even be interviewing; thought it was for the BSN/MSN candidates only. Have you set your date yet?

@tdang09 unfortunately I have just as many questions as you! I previously thought only BSN/MSN candidates were interviewed. Looking back at posts from the summer 2013 cohort, I see some people were interviewed and some people were not. Some people that got interviewed got accepted, as did some that were not. I'm a little nervous as I have no idea what kind of questions to expect or how much the interview is weighted

@tolldoll I researched some old posts too and someone said that the interviews don't matter that much. They are just to make sure you're not crazy or completely in the wrong. But then again, that is heresay I guess because if some of us got some and some didn't, then I think interviews should play a pretty good role in our admissions.

Best of luck to you guys!

Hi everyone! I am also in the Penn absn 2014 applicant pool, and I just received my interview time for Wednesday. I am SUPER nervous. Has anyone interviewed yet, and can you give us a sense of what to expect? (I realize that most of the people here have not interviewed at Penn yet and that we've all taken to the internet to prepare and ease our nerves, but has anyone interviewed for other accelerated nursing programs?) Good luck to all!

My interview is now scheduled for next Wednesday the 15th. Good luck to everyone!

My interview is this Thursday! Let me know how it goes guys!

Hey guys I just had my interview today and it went great. Really did feel like a conversation and she was so nice, friendly, and laughed a lot! So, nothing to fear!

Hi guys, congrats on the interview invites! I'm new to this thread, and had some general questions as well.1. When did you guys apply?2. Are all your prerequisites completed?3. If you don't mind me asking, what school you went to, overall gpa, prerequisite gpa?4. Working? Volunteering? I haven't gotten an interview yet and I'm just curious to see if I even have a chance haha.I remember one of you posted that you're from ucla. I also graduated undergrad from ucla in 2006 as a communications major. My overall gpa was 3.68, my major gpa was 3.89I started my prerequisites just this year in 2013 as I had no science courses completed. I think my prerequisite gpa is around 3.9 so far and I still have 3 courses left! I'm currently taking biology, phys and anatomy 2, and microbiology. It seems all very rushed, but that's because I moved to Philly and had to wait a year until I was an in state resident or else classes would have been almost triple the cost.Penn is my top choice, but I honestly think I don't have a chance cuz you all are very smart I'm sure! Just curious if I should even have a glimpse of hope haha. Thanks and I wish you guys the best luck:) hope you get in!!-Cat

I meant I graduated in 2010, not 2006 haha
