Unit Clerk Programs in BC

Published

Hello everyone,

I have recently been looking into Unit Clerk programs in the lower mainland of BC. I would like to enter into the healthcare field but I don't think I could be a nurse and this would allow me to see if I want to study further in one direction or another.

I have looked into SSCC, VCC, Stenberg, and a few others, but A LOT have horrendous reviews. This obviously makes me very wary as they want to charge $12,000 of a 6 month program. I am considering Surrey Community College, but I am yet to find any reviews (which also means no bad reviews) and would love to hear from anyone who has attended a course there, or who has worked with any of their graduates. They seem to have all the right accreditations, are genuinely helpful, reasonable tuition, and great reciprocal agreements for their practicums (and this is in writing, not just hear-say).

If anyone is able to shed some light on this subject I would greatly appreciate it, as I am on the verge of beginning the application proc with SCC. I just want to be sure I do my due diligence in researching and asking questions.

Thanks :)

I've heard good things about the unit clerk program at Vancouver Community College. I also have a friend who went to Camosun College in Victoria and loved it, especially because it's part time. Their classes are 2 evenings per week + Saturdays. I would probably stay away from private colleges as they're much more expensive and their training can sometimes be iffy...

Thanks LiquoriceTea :)

I have just spoken with a lady from the Canadian Healthcare Academy as well, so if anyone has any feedback about them I would be happy to hear it!

Specializes in geriatrics.

Go with a name brand which offers a good program and one that employers recognize. Many of those private colleges are not well known AND they're very expensive.

The school will tell you anything. They want your money.

Hello Guys!

Is anyone has any feedback about Canadian Health Care Academy ( nursing unit CLerk)

thank you!
