Hey all,
I recently got into both UNC-CH and UNCW FNP programs. I'm trying to decide which program is my best option. Im looking at things like cost and being able to continue to work. I know that UNC is more classroom based and Wilmington is more online. I have several friends who have finished at UNC, but I don't know anyone who has gone through Wilmington. Is there anyone out there that knows anything about UNCW?
Thanks!

Hi. I think the overall costs of tuition should be the same, or at least very close. UNC-CH will require one class day on campus per week plus your clinical time. They are also more highly ranked than UNCW. Now...does ranking mean that much in the long run? I believe you will get out of any program what you are willing to put in.
I also was accepted in two programs this year, UNC-CH MSN, and ECU DNP, both adult gero, both part-time. I chose ECU. I'm older, so don't want to return to school down the road; I can add a post-masters nurse educator certificate during my program, it's only 4 extra semesters, and the campus requirement is only 2-3 days per semester. (And it's a ranked program).
I don't know how much program information you have on UNCW. I wanted to go to an information session, but they don't have one. How often do you need to go to campus? Do you live close enough to UNC-CH to attend once a week? Does UNC W arrange your preceptors for you? Chapel Hill does. Do you know anybody in the UNCW program? I'll bet you can find a few who were accepted within the past couple of years on AllNurses.
These are a few of the things I would consider. Congratulations on your acceptances-good luck on choosing the best program for you!

Hi! I actually am starting UNCW program in fall. I completed my BSN through their online program and had a great experience. Let me know if you decided on UNCW, because we will be in same cohort! - Alicia
