I have seen lots of chatter on here amongst UK nurses discussing jobs in Canada. Is it true that many are finding jobs in the Maritime provinces? And, which provinces are they? One of my colleagues is wanting to go to PEI. Do there seem to be many prospects there?
Thanks!

There are many UK nurses working in Canada, I am working in NS. Maritime provinces generally are Nova Scotia, PEI and New Brunswick. There are jobs however have seen less and less jobs advertised. Has your colleague been assessed by the college of RN for the province they want to work in. A lot will depend on when they trained and that they have clinical and theory in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics as well as General Adult. Most jobs I have seen advertised ask for CRNE or eligibility to sit CRNE and even then do take a long time if any to respond to any resumes sent to them. I applied to the local hospital and sent in numerous resumes and still waiting 3 months later and they are supposed to be crying out for RNs

I'm finding the same Silverdragon, in terms of how long it takes to get a response. I applied for a job in march, and they're still holding the job as 'open' - when i email HR, they tell me they need to build up a case for immigration to show that a local nurse can't fill the position. but it makes one wonder how long they do that for? i could be there actually working by now! Its all very frustrating.
I had an interview (finally) at another hospital - they emailed me if they could set up a time, then set a time for a month later. Its been 6 weeks since the interview and i'm STILL waiting for an answer! I'm told this is pretty normal in Canada though?
Do you have legal status in Canada allowing you to work? If you do then I can't see why they have to wait to show local nurse can't fill the position. If you need a LMO then I believe they only need to advertise for a couple of weeks.
Definitely been told it is the norm in Canada to be waiting a long time
