Hello, I am 19 and I currently attend Pulaski Tech. I am looking to be a Neonatal Nurse. I know you have to have your BSN to become one of those nurses. I am stuck in between UALR and UAMS. Right now I am currently doing research and leaning more towards UAMS. I have questions such as will I be able to work while attending these schools, which school is better as far as nursing and etc. I don't want to take unnecessary classes at PT and I do know the prerequisites for UAMS but I couldn't find that information for UALR. Any advice?

Pre reqs for ULAR:
Curriculum - Department of Nursing
I went to UCA so can't really comment lol. But I was able to work some during nursing school. When I was a SNT (student nurse tech) at the VA during school the pay was better than anywhere else and I basically told them when I would work. They didn't schedule me during school.
Thank you! I don't mind not working since I'm going to be doing what I actually want to do in school, but then again I might want to work.

I go to UALR and yes you can work while in school. Both are good schools. I say apply to both and then decide on the one you want to attend after being accepted. I don't really know a lot about uams, but I know that some of my friends graduated ualr this month and everyone had jobs lined up 2 months before graduation. St. Vincent has a partnership with ualr and awards scholarships to only ualr students. So I've been getting it every semester.
Thank you!

I got to UAMS now and you can certainly work, although I would wait until after your first rotation or two. There are multiple opportunities to become involved and line a job up within a NICU if that's your preference. I do feel as though I'll be very prepared, or as prepared as a new grad can be, once I graduate.
Thank you! And first rotation as in semester?

Summer semester it's really hard to work unless you're doing weekends because you're learning a lot at once and it's pretty packed. But some have done it! After the summer semester you can work and still be able to do well in classes :-)
