UAB ACNP Fall 2016

Published

Hello,

I just applied for the UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) ACNP program for the Fall of 2016 and wanted to reach out to any others who have also applied to see when any of you hear back about if you got accepted or not. Just wanted to start a forum

Hi, I have been looking for a forum. I applied for FNP.

I've applied for FNP with a secondary choice of Primary/Acute Peds. :) I only have a year of experience under my belt, so I'm unsure of how this might play out. I'm also applying to Samford (FNP) and U of Alabama (FNP/Mental Health). How much experience do y'all have? I think I read that we should hear back by the beginning of May? ...The deadline for UA's program isn't even until June 1... So, I wonder how that will work if I get into UAB? UA is much cheaper, so I've been considering it my first choice, but... I hate the idea of turning down one place in the hopes I get in elsewhere with the possibility I might not get it!

I will have 2 years of experience in July, 1 year being med surg and 1 being critical care (recovery room in a level 1 trauma center) so I am also unsure about the track I've chosen in regards to experience, the acute care route. I hope my experience is enough. I haven't received anything in the mail yet, so I am hoping it is sooner rather than later. But UA's program sounds like a good choice too!

I applied for the Acute/Primary Peds program and also haven't heard anything back yet. Considering they go out for spring break next week, I am not holding out a whole lot of hope that we will hear anything before April at the earliest.

I have 12 years total experience. 7 years as a NICU nurse and then 4 years as a neonatal/Pediatric flight nurse. I am hoping they will consider my flight experience as peds experience because my bedside experience for peds is about a 6-8 month stent while I was training for flight.

Fingers crossed for everybody! Let us know when you hear something one way or the other.

That's awesome experience. You are super qualified it sounds like

Hey guys! I applied for PNP-primary care with a secondary choice of PNP-primary//acute care. I will have two years of experience in a level 1 pediatric intensive care unit in July. Haven't heard anything yet! Goodluck to everyone!

Hello everyone! I also applied for fall 2016 ACNP program. I have been a critical care nurse for 4 years. I received an email a couple of weeks ago stating that we should hear back from them no later then the beginning of May. Fingers crossed for all of us! I'm not sure what the chances are of getting in but I have read in previous forums of people not being accepted. It was at that point I quickly stopped reading those forums lol. Good luck to everyone and let me know if you guys hear anything!

Anyone heard anything yet???

Still waiting, myself. But feeling hopeless after the CAS mishap. Ugh.
