Hey everybody!!!!

I am planning on applying to the Weekend program @ TWU for Spring 2011. Does anyone know if TWU (Dallas) accepts students every year for the weekend program or is it every other year like the fast track program? I have been trying to call the School of Nursing, but I never can get anyone on the phone. I am currently taking Dev Psy and Nutrition @ TWU in Denton. In the Spring 2010, I will be taking Micro. Does anyone know if taking Micro with A&P I would be feasible? I just wanted to start a group to gain information and meet people going through the same situation. All comments are WELCOME!

Thanks in advance to anyone that could offer any information!

Hi Lev_Lady,

I was just told by a currrent TWU Weekend program student that not only are they going to offer the Weekend Program annually but they are going to continue to double the class size.

I am not sure if you received my last post (or reply) to your recent post but were you working fulltime or part-time while attending TWU in Denton last semester because I work a typical Mon-Fri 8a-5p shift and I could not find any of the courses online or one day per week evening course on campus. So I decided not to enroll in the course. I hate that because I really wanted to start my pre-reqs this past Fall 2009 but now I have to wait until Summer 2010 to start in community college OR TWU if they have Dev/Nurt online. If not, I know DCCCD have online A&P I/II, Micro, Chem, Dev & Nurt courses...easier for me to manage while working fulltime.

I read on one of the posts that the only courses you should not take together is Chem & Micro but A&P I and Micro should be fine together. Again, I have not started taking my pre-req courses, BTW congrats on your first semester grades. I read you had a successful first semester...I originally made a C in Nurt at UNT back when I received my first degree which is BBA - Management. So I will love to take it again to try to get an A in the course.

I have been in HR for the last 13 years and seeking to truly make a change into Nursing...I've always wanted to be in the medical field as a clinician but I have always been in Business. Ever since High School, I went to a Magnet school that focused on Business Administration. I am so eager and excited to start working on my pre-reqs to get one step closer to the BSN goal.

Another thing someone else recommended who is current in the Weekend Program is to take the Patho course before starting the Spring 2011 semester. She took it at the TWU Dallas campus, since it's a Biol course she was to register for the course without being a nurse student even though the course number is BACT 4000 sequence.

Even though I plan to begin the TWU Weekend Program in Spring 2012, I would like to continue to read/post on this thread to stay connected to ppl in the same situation as myself.

I hope your current courses are going well this semester. I would highly recommend you read the TWU Spring 2010 thread...they have some cool and insight into how the first semester is going in the TWU Dallas Weekend Program.

Look forward to your response and future postings on this thread! ;)

Yes, take patho before nursing school. I wish I did. The weekend program is accepting students every year and will accept 90 in the next class. There are 45 students in the Spring 2010 class. Good luck!

I'm the Admissions Coordinator at the TWU Dallas Campus and I wanted to let you guys know that the Weekend Program does not have plans to expand the class size. It will remain at 45 students each spring. If you have questions, feel free to give us a call or send an email.

I took Micro and A&PI together in a summer 10-wk session at a junior college. I made As in each and didn't find it to be too difficult. Then in the fall I took chem and A&PII together, also without much difficulty. I just would try to stay away from taking three sciences at a time if you don't have to. I scheduled the classes on alternating days, and I think that helped a lot. Good luck!

Hey guys, I'm currently applying to the Fall 2011 here at the Dallas campus. I was wondering if any of you would mind sharing your scores on the TEAS V and GPA from application to get into the program. I have a 3.3 GPA (transfer student so no bump) and got a 90.7% on my TEAS. There is currently no point system posted as to how they are using the teast and GPA for admissions. I am just curious to see if i have any chance to get in. My TEAS V score put me in the 99th percentile nation wide and 98th for the program... whatever that really boils down to. Any light shed would be a help. I am applying to other programs, but this is the only BSN program I'm going for. I was also told that being male would improve my chances slightly, but I'm doubtful of that too.
