Trying to tweak my work schedule

Hello!

I currently work 72 hours every 2 weeks. I have to work every other weekend and would like to have some Wednesdays off. I only have the option to work 8 hour days. I would like to have more days off in a row, but not work more than 5 or 6 days in a row.

Example: Sat & Sun ----OFF (2 days)

Mon ----Work (1 day)

Tue & Wed----OFF (2 days)

Thurs-Mon----Work (5 days)

Tue----OFF (1 day)

Wed-Fri----Work (3 days)

Sat & Sun----OFF (2 days)

Mon-Wed----Work (3 days)

Thurs----OFF (1 day)

Fri-Mon----Work (4 days)

:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Everytime I have tried to tweak this schedule, I get frustrated and just let the supervisor make out the schedule. We don't make out our own schedules, but the super encourages us to change things if we want to....which is very cool.

What should I do? How can I make this better? Please, someone, Help Me!!!!!

Thank You!

When I worked 12's I did:

Mon-Tues on

Wed-Fri off

Sat-Sun on

Mon-Tues off

Wed-Thurs on

Fri-Sun off

I had every Friday off. Not by choice, it's just how it worked out.

Thanks for the reply TazziRN. Does anyone else out there have any suggestions? Especially for 8 hour days?

8 hr days are tough. Working 72 hrs means yu have 5 days off every 2 weeks. So you can get either 2 or 3 days off at a time, or work 9 days straight and get 5 days off.

Tue-Sun (6 days)

Mon-Tue off (2 days)

Wed-Fri (3 days)

Sat-Mon off (3 days)

Best I can figure as it gives you your 2 or more days off each time and doesn't have you working more than 6 days at once.

If your body can handle it you might give this a try:

Tue-Wed (9 days)

Thu-Mon off (5 days)

You get in kind of a rhythm and I think it makes it easier. This is kind of what I do. I work 6 12's in a row Thu-Tue then pick up the bracketing Wed's as extra shifts (usually 8 hrs, but sometimes 12's). This gives me 6 days straight off, or 8 if I don't get called to work and makes it easier to switch to a day schedule for my kids (currently work nights).

Hope this helps
